Navigating the procedure for trademark registration in Vietnam can be complex, but understanding the timeline and steps involved makes it easier. Here's what to expect once the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP) receives your trademark application:
- Form examination: 1 month
- Application publication: Your application will be published within 2 months after NOIP accepts it as valid
- Content examination: Not exceeding 9 months from the date of application publication
However, the entire procedure to register a trademark can sometimes extend to 18-24 months due to:
- Increasing number of applications at NOIP, leading to longer processing times.
- Necessary amendments or additional documents required to correct any errors.
- Submit Directly: You can send your application directly or by post to NOIP's registered office.
- Submit Online: Alternatively, use NOIP's Online Public Service Portal for submission.
The certificate for your trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of issuance. It can be renewed indefinitely, in 10-year increments.
