What to Know About Vietnam's Labor Rules
Vietnam has specific and evolving labor regulations. HIREVN keeps you compliant so you never have to worry about legal exposure.
- Regular hours: 8 hrs/day or 48 hrs/week
- Daily hours must not exceed 10 hours
- Weekly hours should not exceed 48; State encourages 40-hour workweek
- New Year's Day: 1 day (January 1st)
- Lunar New Year (Tết): 5 days — decided by Prime Minister
- Victory Day: April 30th
- International Labour Day: May 1st
- National Day: 2 days (September 2nd + adjacent day)
- Foreign employees: +1 traditional & +1 national day of their country
- Tết falls at the start of the Lunar Calendar; most businesses take 5 days off
- Exact Tết dates are decided by the Prime Minister of Vietnam
- It is customary (though not legally required) to pay a 13th-month bonus for Tết
